Saved vs Draft

Understand the difference between a draft and a saved artifact, and what happens to each when you delete a chat.

The difference

Everything the AI generates — assessments, lesson plans, presentations, and study notes — starts as a draft.

• Draft — exists only inside the chat that created it. Drafts are private to you and stay hidden in My Artifacts until you toggle Show drafts.
• Saved — a draft you've kept. Saved items appear in My Artifacts by default and no longer depend on their chat.

To keep a draft, open its actions menu (⋯) and select Save. Drafts never expire on their own — they stay until you save or delete them.

What happens when you delete a chat

Each chat holds at most one document or presentation, and a draft lives and dies with its conversation:

• Deleting a conversation permanently removes its unsaved (draft) artifact along with the chat history. This can't be undone.
• Once you save an artifact, it's safe — deleting the conversation only detaches the chat from it; the saved artifact remains in My Artifacts.

So if you want to keep something the AI generated, save it before deleting the chat.

Explorer tools (Book Explorer, Wiki Explorer) and the Assistant are question-and-answer chats — they don't create drafts or saved documents.
