About ClasslyIndia got its children into school. It has not yet taught most of them to learn.
24.72 crore children go to 14.67 lakh schools5. The enrolment problem is solved. The learning problem is not — and the numbers below are the government's own, and the country's largest household survey. They have been improving. They are still not good enough.
Children are passing classes without learning them
A child who cannot read by Class 3 spends every year after it falling further behind a syllabus that assumes they can.
- 72.9%
of Class 3 children in rural India cannot yet read a story meant for Class 2.1
- 69.3%
of Class 5 children cannot divide a three-digit number by a one-digit number.1
- 37%
is the average Class 9 score in maths in the national survey of 21 lakh students. Science: 40%.3
- 1 in 4
young people aged 14 to 18 still cannot read a Class 2 text fluently in their own language.2
The help they need is missing, or it costs money
Teachers are stretched across classes they were never hired for. Families who can afford it fill the gap with tuition. Everyone else goes without.
- 9.83 lakh
sanctioned teacher posts are lying empty.4
- 1,00,843
schools are run by a single teacher, for every class at once.5
- 27%
of school students pay for private coaching. An urban family spends ₹9,950 a year on it for one higher-secondary child.6
- 51.9%
of students are still in school by the end of secondary.5
What we believe
- 1
Help should not depend on a coaching fee
A child who is stuck at 9 pm deserves an answer at 9 pm — explained patiently, in plain words, as many times as it takes. Not only the child whose family can pay.
- 2
Teachers need time, not another portal
One teacher running a whole school cannot also write every paper, plan every period and mark every copy. Give that work to an assistant and give the teacher back to the class.
- 3
Start from the textbook in the bag
Every tool works from the NCERT chapter the class is actually on. No parallel syllabus, no content that has to be unlearned before the exam.
- 4
Free to start, for every student
Every account gets free AI credits every month. Paid plans are priced in rupees, GST included, for the people who need more.
What we are building
Classly gives every student a patient tutor and every teacher an assistant that does the paperwork. Don't take our word for it — each of these is a live demo you can try without signing up.
For students
There is more inside: a Tutor, an Answer Checker, Study Notes, Homework help, a Teaching Assistant and a Presentation Generator. The help centre explains each one.
